Many Surgeries can be Done Using Keyhole Surgery Singapore

If you have to go in for a surgical procedure, you should ask if Keyhole surgery is a viable option for you. It can be done in virtually every part of your body and it is done using small incisions instead of the larger, traditional incisions that use to be popular. That is why it is considered a minimally invasive surgical procedure and with it, you can enjoy a smaller healing period and less time in the hospital after surgery. Are you ready to discover the many surgeries that can be done using Keyhole surgery Singapore?

What Is Keyhole Surgery?

If you are not sure what keyhole surgery is, you may recognize the name better as laparoscopy. It is a surgical procedure that allows doctors to cut one or two small incisions and then use lasers and tiny cameras to get the job done. It is a procedure that both doctors and patients prefer because of the fact that it does heal up quickly and there is a lot less chance of it tearing open because of the way you move around when you get home from the hospital. This means your stay after surgery, will be much less than it would have a few years ago.

What Procedures Can Be Done?

With keyhole surgery or laparoscopic surgery, you can have gastrointestinal procedures done as well as thoracic, vascular, gynecological, urology procedures, neurosurgical procedures, biopsies, and much more. The possibilities are endless and all procedures require only around an inch-long incision, so you can get back on your feet with very little effort. Often, stitches may not even be used to keep it closed because the easiest way to do it for both patients and doctors is to glue the incision. Once glued, the glue will stay in place long enough for the incision to heal up and not have a risk of busting open.

Recovery After a Keyhole Procedure

In most cases, you may have to stay in the hospital after keyhole surgery for a few hours. This is mostly to keep watch on your vitals. No one wants your heart rate to increase or for you to have difficulty with your breathing. If all of that is fine, you should be released soon after you get out of recovery. However, there are other things that may make your stay a little shorter or longer. If you are not in good health, if your body is having a hard time after surgery, or there is a risk of the anesthesia causing problems for you, later on, you may have to stay a short time longer. The only real issue is that you may have to have someone else drive you home after surgery. This is for your safety because sometimes it may take several hours for anesthesia to wear off. If you do not have a ride, you will have to stay at the hospital until you are no longer at risk for being groggy. You may feel pain, but it should not be unbearable and you may feel pressure because of the gas that will be used. Either way, you will be up and on your feet in a very short time.
